Alfreton Town Football Club
The present Alfreton Town Football Club, known colloquially as The Reds, celebrated the milestone of their Golden Jubilee at the end of the 2008/2009 campaign. The side was formed in 1959 following the merger of Alfreton Miners Welfare and Alfreton United football clubs. Visit Web Site
The newly constituted club, playing on a new ground on North Street provided by the local council, was admitted directly to the Central Alliance Division One (North) and progressed sufficiently in the first two seasons to gain entry to the re-formed Midland Counties League.
The modern club was promoted to the Blue Square Bet Premier League, which is the highest league in English conference football, following the 2011 - 2012 season. In 2012 the team also progressed into the second round proper of the FA Cup. The club is currently managed by former professional player Nicky Law who took over the side in 2007.
Alfreton Golf Club
Alfreton Golf Club is. located on Wingfield Road opposite the park. The 18 hole course was initially established in 1892. The club participate in frequent fixtures but the club is also open to visitors and members are welcome to bring guests. Visit the website
